This Portable Clamp-on Ultrasonic Transit Time Flowmeter is easy to program and installs in seconds on most pipe materials and sizes. Recommended for full pipe, clean liquids applications such as water, well water, final effluent, chilled water, hot water, DI water, flow monitoring and process control.
Theory of Operation The transducers are clamped on the outside of a closed pipe at specific distance from each other and operate by alternately transmitting and receiving a frequency between the two transducers. The frequency’s time of flight is accurately measured in both directions and the difference in the time of flight is calculated. The velocity (V) inside the pipe can be related to the difference in time of flight (dt) through the following equation V=K*D*dt, where K is a constant and D I the distance between the transducers.
